Members of the Merry Barn design and renovation team, Architects Michelle and Dan Phelps; Lead Contractor Neal Groton; Stephanie McSherry; Creative Director Kimberly Skillin Traina; Structural Engineer Michael Cunningham accept the 2019 Honor Award from Maine Preservation. This prestigious award celebrates excellence in historic preservation leadership, rehabilitation and craft. The Awards program shines a light on how adaptively using and updating vacant and underutilized historic structures is an essential ingredient for community revitalization and vigor.
PARTNERING WITH THE LINCOLN HOME…
Stephanie Noyes McSherry has been volunteering at The Lincoln Home, an independent and assisted living community in Newcastle, to help engage residents in writing their memoirs...telling their stories of the things that are important to them. "We all have stories to tell" and "If we write, we are writers" were among Stephanie’s words of encouragement. Through her sharing of quotes, poems, story books, personal observations and prompts, Stephanie has helped residents think about events, both life changing and ordinary, that have impacted their lives. Each week has been full of inspiration and encouragement to write short prompts, create collages, and share stories. The residents look forward to this time together each week, and have gotten to know each other on a very different level.
Join Us!
Thank You to Everyone Who Had a Hand in Bringing the Merry Barn to Life.
